PDF v1.4 outputs for easiest VDP printing

We have found that it is best to output all PDF files as version 1.4 for the best printing.  Often times newer PDF versions create larger files and create confusing printer commands and simpler PDF’s are smaller files and create less problems on VDP digital presses.

PDF 1.6 has commands that can confuse older digital presses that may or may not have updated Adobe RIP software.  You get the same output resolution and everything looks the same in the simpler PDF 1.4 version.

Keep it simple and you have less problems

When we output v1.6 the outputs often change from portrait to landscape. V1.4 outputs fixed that.

Yes, our press rips don’t get updated as often as they could. This fixes many issues!!
